ML Sacramento | Oscar Torre | Rendering, Beauty, Personality, Flaws, Foibles & Triumphs

The great early 20th century American stage actress Laurette Taylor once opined,

“Personality is more important than beauty, but imagination is more important than both of them.” Oscar Torre makes good on this promise. However, his approach to each new character is so richly imagined and so finely textured, it inevitably renders the beauty and personality of human experience in all of its flaws, foibles, and triumphs.

Torre is best known to television audiences for his breakout role as “Santo Gutierrez” in the critically acclaimed CBS TV series CANE starring Jimmy Smits and Rita Moreno. Other television credits include guest-starring roles on CSI: MIAMI (CBS), NCIS (CBS), DOLLHOUSE (FOX), and THE MENTALIST (CBS) among others.

On film, Torre is widely recognized for his role in Lionsgate’s LADRON QUE ROBA A LADRON as Miguelito – a Cuban out-of-work actor recruited to be a con-man. The New York Times hailed his performance as “brilliantly funny”. More recent film credits include THE HANGOVER III featuring an all-star cast including Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, John Goodman, and Melissa McCarthy. Additionally, Torre stars in Lionsgate’s boxing drama COUNTERPUNCH, directed by Kenneth Castillo. Torre delivers a knockout performance as Frank, a man drowning in his personal demons while struggling to guide his nephew to a better life – against seemingly impossible odds. The film also stars Danny Trejo and Steven Bauer. Torre will next be seen starring in Shoreline Entertainment's indie thriller THE BOATMAN, playing the title role and this summer Oscar will be seen in theaters reprising the role of Miguelito in Pantalion's LADRONES.

Torre made his directorial debut with the indie feature PRETTY ROSEBUD, the story of a woman whose unorthodox choices threaten her tidy world. The film has gone on to win numerous awards at the film festival circuit, including Best Director for Torre and Best Film and in 2015 the film was theatrically released in LA and it is now available on Amazon, iTunes and GooglePlay.

The actor was born and raised in Miami, Florida. His first major screen role was in Eduardo Carrillo’s SUICIDE BLONDE. Early film roles include LIBERTAD, a film inspired by true events that tells the story of a Cuban artist and political prisoner’s harrowing escape to freedom. His performance elicited rave reviews from critics.

Torre is married to actress Chuti Tiu. They make their home in Los Angeles.
